I began my own musical journey at the age of 8 years old. This was considered to be a late start in terms of learning an instrument like the piano. I started my journey later than most, with a drive to learn music in a multitude of forms which has fuelled a passion that continues to this day.
That was just the start for me. After 10 years of private lessons, I followed my passion further and was accepted into the Bachelor of Music program at Queen's University, where I was able to continue my progress on the Piano as well as learn about other instruments, music theory, music history and music education.
Presently I am a second year teacher candidate at the University of Ottawa. My goal is to complete my final year of my Bachelor of Education and combine my skills and knowledge of both teaching and music. I am a classically trained pianist but have studied a wide variety of other genres.
All this being said my main goal as a music educator is to encourage my students to be confident in their skills and to continue to be curious and passionate about music regardless of skill level. My students will gain important technical skills, while exploring numerous genres.
I firmly believe that it is never too late to start learning and that there is a passionate musician in all of us!
